Everywhere we go, we carry the Flame of Hope. Being part of the 2025 Final Leg Team changed my life—I made friends, gave speeches, and lit the cauldron at the 2025 Summer Games Opening Ceremonies.


Officer Ryan Maxfield had never been involved with Special Olympics—until one day at Gillette Stadium changed everything. Now he’s all in, running the Final Leg and carrying the Flame of Hope with his son in mind.

The New England Revolution signed more than a dozen Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes and Unified partners to the 2019 New England Revolution Unified team on May 6 at Gillette Stadium.


Abbie Kaiser grew up in Portland, Oregon, and now lives in Boston, Massachusetts. At one time running was just a hobby, but now she trains more seriously and does other things in her free time.
