Meet the 2024 Hall of Fame Class: Jay Barnes

June 25, 2024

Meet Jay Barnes, the heart and soul behind Haverhill's Special Olympics Local Program! Recently honored with an induction into the Special Olympics Massachusetts Hall of Fame, Jay's dedication knows no bounds. While Jay is a true example of kindness and passion, he's not afraid to ignite a little friendly competition! Loved deeply by his athletes, Jay's journey began with his beloved son Christopher, a shining star in the Special Olympics community. Christopher sadly passed away in October of 2009 after a battle with cancer. Although Christopher is no longer with us, Jay's commitment remains unwavering, continually raising the bar for his athletes.

Jay stands as a testament to the transformative power of dedication and love within the Special Olympics MA community. His induction into the Hall of Fame recognizes his achievements and honors the enduring legacy of his son, Christopher. Jay's spirit and leadership continue to inspire and uplift the entire Haverhill community, ensuring that his athletes reach new heights both on and off the field. Congratulations, Jay, on being inducted into the Special Olympics Massachusetts Hall of Fame, Christopher would be so proud!
