Meet Xtra Mile's Boston Run to Remember Runner, Casey Eagan!

Casey Eagan is a police officer in Orleans, MA who has been involved with Special Olympics for years, and is always looking to increase her involvement. She says that being a police officer, ''has allowed me to be involved with the Special Olympics in a more active and meaningful way. I plan to become involved in other upcoming events I am learning of."

Casey has run in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the last 5 years, as well as participated in other Special Olympics events such as Tip-a-Cop. ''To support Special Olympics athletes alongside my fellow officers is an incredible feeling!" As an already active member of the Special Olympics Massachusetts community, she decided to get more involved this year by running in the Boston Run to Remember Marathon as part of the Xtra Mile team.

Claiming to have started running before she was walking, Casey has participated in many different races, but being a part of the Boston Run to Remember has a special meaning for Casey and her friends.

Last year, Casey crossed running a half marathon off of her bucket list, this year running a half marathon will help her support a cause she believes in.

"This year's run had double the meaning, now running for Special Olympics as well," she said.

Through the support of her friends, an ever-changing music playlist, and knowing that she is supporting Special Olympics, Casey stayed motivated throughout her training and ran the race in May. She said, "It has been moving and inspiring watching the funds rise and all different people from different chapters of my life supporting and donating."

Casey raised $1,175  for Special Olympics Massachusetts! Thank you for your support!
